Kitchen Assistant — Camp Nedooae

JOB SUMMARY

A summer camp kitchen assistant is responsible for supporting the head cook in providing meals for campers and staff during the summer camp program. They are responsible for assisting with meal preparation, cleaning and organizing the kitchen and appliances, and ensuring that all food is stored and prepared safely. In addition, kitchen assistants are responsible for general cleaning and maintaining meal records. A primary function of this and every other job at the camp is to ensure that each member, guest, and visitor receives the highest caliber of service.

LOCATION: 234 Camp Nedooae Road, Elderbank, NS, B0N 1X0

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist the head cook with meal preparation
  • Ensure cleanliness of food preparation and delivery areas
  • Follow health department regulations pertaining to safe food practice
  • Assist in weekly deep cleaning of specific areas in the kitchen, e.g. floors, vent hoods, etc.
  • Assist in rotating stock when new orders are checked in
  • Assist in preparing all meals on time as scheduled or assigned by the director
  • Assist in keeping accurate incident log

  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (strength and stamina to follow strenuous activities like hiking, running, crouching or carrying children)
