Fundraising for Camp Attawandaron Cabins Brings Community Together

SARNIA THIS WEEK – JUNE 19, 2018

The Sarnia-Lambton community has come together to help the BlueWater Scout Group raise $56,000 so far towards purchasing 12 all-season cabins for Camp Attawandaron, much needed replacements for the current lodgings, built in 1948.

Having nestled in the hearts of Sarnia-Lambton and Scouting alumni families over the decades, the memories that Camp Attawandaron created now weaves the community together.

Scouter Elwood Addison Honoured for 60 Years of Service in Scouting

We want to send a huge, heartfelt shout out and congratulations to Elwood “Addie” Addison for generously sharing his time, energy and commitment as a Scouter for over 60 years.

Upon receiving the prestigious Silver Acorn Award in special recognition for Addison’s dedication to Scouting, several Scouting alumni—now Scouters—who benefitted from Addison’s guidance over the decades shared the ways in which he contributed to their current integrity and development into adulthood.

“You never know who you’re going to reach or who you’re going to touch without even realizing it,” Addison reflected in an interview with North Bay Nipissing.

Scout Raises $1k for Local Hospital Foundation

Way to go 1st AFC Scout, Shanza Khan, for receiving the Chief Scout’s Award!

Through 30+ hours of community work, Shanza raised $1,000 in funds for the Milton District Hospital Foundation by organizing local bake sales and mobilizing the community.

In Scouts, we strongly support and encourage youth-led initiatives that help youth develop well-rounded skills that prepare them for future success, and allow them to contribute to building a better world.

Scouting Youth Win Section Awards

HAMILTON NEWS – MAY 29, 2018

Congratulations to the 4 Cubs and Beavers with the 6th Dundas Group, who received prestigious Scouting awards for leading a trail building project in Camp Nemo that mobilized 30 Scouting youth, along with Scouters and parents.

Through this youth-led initiative, the award recipients created a new nature trail that will host new outdoor adventures, leaving a legacy of what youth can achieve through Scouting.

The Seeonee Cub Scout Award and North Star Beaver Scout Award allow youth to select and execute a community service project that involves various challenges and provides skill development in several outdoor adventure areas.

Of the various youth-led community projects they contributed to, one initiative led by Scout Jameson Dymond and his 5th Garry Oak Troop arranged for friendly meetings between youth and residents of a local seniors’ home.

Scouting Returns to the Boundary, BC

GRAND FORKS GAZETTE – APRIL 27, 2018

Scouting is returning to the Boundary, BC.
During an information session, Scouters from the Kootenay-Boundary area answered questions asked by youth regarding camping trips, personal progression badges, fun events like Kub Kar rallies and more.

Scouters also touched on how parents can get involved in the Scouts Canada program through volunteering, in order to welcome even more youth into the new Group.
