Assistant National Youth Commissioners

The National Youth Network is seeking applications to fill two Assistant National Youth Commissioner (ANYC) vacancies.
PLEASE NOTE: The role of ANYC is no longer based on geography. Applicants will be accepted based on the qualifications and attitudes they possess, not by their physical location.
As a member of the National Service Team & National Youth Network, the Assistant National Youth Commissioner coordinates and services the Council Youth Commissioners in their cohort, assists in projects that support the 5 priorities, and supports the National Youth Commissioner.
The ANYC supports Council Youth Commissioners to ensure that they have the skills and resources they need to be successful in their role. Each ANYC will support 5 CYCs from Councils across the country as agreed upon with the National Youth Commissioner. They are a catalyst for promoting meaningful youth involvement within the National Service Team and ensure that youth are actively supported and recognized.
The ANYC’s also work with members of the National Leadership Team and National Service Team to drive the 5 priorities. They may take on a variety of project roles, including managing or participating in working groups, as agreed upon with the National Youth Commissioner.
As an ANYC, youth will have the opportunity to take on new challenges and initiatives at the National level. They will have the chance to meet new people in and out of Scouts, and most importantly, they can be the voice that helps to grow and promote Scouting. These roles are open to members and non-members of Scouts Canada.

Applicants must submit:

  • CV detailing your current Scouting role and Group (if applicable), Scouting background (and other community involvement), awards and recognition and leadership roles in and out of Scouting
  • Cover letter that identifies the role that you are applying for and details why you are interested in the position, your vision for Scouting and what you can contribute to the role
  • Name, telephone number and email address
Review the job description and submit your application to the National Youth Network:
Successful applicants will serve for a 1-year term, renewable up to 3 years.
Deadline for applications is May 19, 2017 at 5pm EST.

Scouts Canada, the country’s leading youth organization, offers challenging programs for boys, girls and youth age 5-26 in thousands of individual groups in most cities and towns across Canada.
