Marketing and Communications Specialists

Do you love to design, write and generally create stuff?  Are you enthusiastic, have some experience with graphic design programs and love to inspire people with your work? The Volunteer Marketing and Communications Team is expanding and we’re looking for enthusiastic, experienced marketers with a range of skills to join our Local Marketing team!

Positions available

Marketing Advisor

1 each – Western Canada (BC, Yukon, Alberta), Central Canada (Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Northwest Territories), Eastern Canada (Quebec, PEI, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Nunavut, Newfoundland).

Duties and Responsibilities

Marketing Specialist

Want to use your skills to benefit local Scouting?  Encouraging more kids to have great Scouting adventures and experiences? Supported by the National Team Lead – Local Marketing, you’ll act as a marketing resource for Scouting members in your geographic area. You will respond to requests and identify opportunities to contribute marketing knowledge and activities to benefit local Groups, Areas, Councils and Scouts-run facilities. One day you could be carrying out a marketing analysis for a Scout camp, the next advising how to plan and promote a local recruitment drive or perhaps overseeing the creation of local marketing materials for specific Scouting events.

Graphic designer 

You excel at translating ideas into compelling visual representations that drive results. Working together with Councils, volunteer Marketing Specialists and the National Office team, you’ll create innovative, appealing visual materials to market local Scouting events and facilities through a variety of mediums. Previous experience using Adobe Creative Suite/Cloud would be an asset.  Scouts Canada will provide the graphic standards, photo and video resources, you’ll provide the creativity.


You’re an expert at using words to encourage and inspire. Working together with the volunteer Marketing Specialists and National Office team, you’ll craft compelling content for local marketing materials for use in a variety of mediums (print, web, social media etc). Previous education and experience writing commercially or creatively would be an asset.


  • Enthusiasm and a desire to use your skills to help fellow Scouters market their Groups and activities 
  • Experience within Scouts Canada
  • A well-rounded background; ideally a combination of marketing OR graphic design OR communications education and experience (depending on the role desired), creating and executing campaigns for a variety of audiences.
  • A self-starter, able to work independently and achieve results. You make things happen!
  • Able to work collaboratively with a remote team

Working Conditions

Primarily a member of a virtual team with regular team meetings by phone/video call. Approx 10 hours/month but may vary according to initiatives underway.
