Pen Pal Program
Pen Pal Program - How it Works
How it Works
Once a group, Canadian or otherwise, has followed the proper procedures (as outlined below), Scouts Canada staff will post their group name, section and country of origin on the Available Pen Pal Links page. If your group would like to communicate and exchange contact information with one of the groups listed, please send an e-mail to mjowett@scouts.ca.
If you are a Scouts Canada group looking to link up with an international group who has posted a request, upon confirmation of membership, we will forward you the group’s contact info to begin your communication!
If you are an international group looking to link up with a Scouts Canada group who has posted a request, we ask that your National Scouting Association verify your membership and approve your request. Once approval has been granted, and we receive e-mail confirmation of approval from your NSA, we will forward you the Canadian group’s contact info to begin your communication!
*NOTE: Personal contact information such as names, e-mail addresses or phone numbers will not be posted on the website for privacy reasons. All contact information will be held by Scouts Canada staff until a link has been confirmed and approved.
How to Post an Invitation for Contact
If you are part of an existing Scouts Canada group and wish to post an invitation for contact on our website, please submit your request to mjowett@scouts.ca.
International groups wishing to post invitations must forward their requests through their National Scouting Association to the address above.
NOTE: Pen Pal linking requests will be removed from the website if they have been posted for more than 3 months, or once a proper link between groups has been made.
Criteria
In order to take part in our “Group Pen Pal” program, the following criteria must be met:
- Requests to post material/contact information on the Scouts Canada website must be forwarded through your National Scout Association. Individual requests or requests made directly from an international group that have not gone through the proper channels will not be accepted.
- This program will only accommodate contact between groups. Requests for contact between individuals, regardless of age or position in Scouting, will not be accepted.
- This program is designed to promote Scouting-related exchanges only; requests to promote non-Scouting programs will not be accepted.
