Boy Scouts of America National Scout Jamboree 2017

Be part of the Canadian Contingent at the 2017 BSA National Jamboree!  Here are the details!

Bechtel Summit Scout Reserve, West Virginia USA
Hosted by Boy Scouts of America
 

Who can participate:

Youth: ages 14-17 or 18-20
Unit Leaders: ages 21-25 or over 25
Staff: ages 18-25 or over 25
 
Patrols: Total is 10;  8 Youths + 2 Unit Leaderss or 9 Youths + 1 Unit Leader
Troops: Total is 40;  32-36 Youth plus 4-8 Unit Leaders
 
Health & Safety Insurance:
Covered in the Participant Fee while at the Jamboree.
 
Transportation:
It will be the responsibility of individual patrols.

An Invitation to all Canadian Venturer Scouts and Rover Scouts

All Canadian Venturer Scouts and Rover Scouts in the age range of 14 – 26, as of July 2017, are invited to join the Canadian Contingent to the 2017 Boy Scouts of America National Jamboree.  The Canadian Contingent will be led by Scouter Steve Kent, former Chief Commissioner and past Chair of the National Board of Governors.
 
About the Jamboree…
The 2017 BSA Jamboree will be held at the Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve in West Virginia. The Jamboree will start on July 19 and conclude on July 28, 2017. The Summit Scout Reserve is the most highly developed Scouting facility in the world.  The Summit features BMX Biking, skateboarding parks, mountain biking, hiking, water sports and Scouting challenge courses. About the Contingent…
Patrol Units will consist of 10 people and Troop Units will consist of 40 people. Patrol Units will be composed of one or two adult Patrol Unit Leader(s) and eight or nine youth members, totaling ten.  The site footprint for Troop Units is based on four adult Patrol Unit Leaders and 36 youth members.
 
About Insurance Coverage…
Accident and sickness insurance is provided as part of the fee to all participants while they are at the Jamboree.  It is recommended that members of International Contingents obtain their own travel insurance for coverage for the periods of traveling to and from the Jamboree.

About the Jamboree Fee…
Youth Participant 14-17 years old: $1,890.00
Youth Participant 18-20 years old: $1,890.00
Unit Leaders 21-25 years old: $1,160.00
Unit Leaders 26 years old or older: $1,960.00
Staff (OOS) 18-25 years old: $890.00
Staff (OOS) 26 years old or older: $1,580.00
 

For youth participants and patrol unit leaders:

The Jamboree Fee includes 10 day Jamboree Fee, accident and sickness insurance, all food during the event, jamboree gear (tents, cots, dining shelter/kitchen facilities including cookware and picnic tables) and most program activities. Additionally provided within the fee are Troop numerals, name tag, patrol first aid kit, patrol lock box, patrol flag, Troop flag and neckerchiefs.
 

For Staff (OOS) and Contingent Management Team members:

The Jamboree Fee includes 10 day Jamboree Fee, accident and sickness insurance, all food during the event, 4 person tent housing and a cot. Additionally provided within the fee are event name tag and neckerchiefs.

15th World Scout Moot 2017 – Iceland

July 25, 2017 to August 2, 2017
Co-educational for youth between the ages of 18 and 25 at the time of the event
Reykajavik, Iceland
 
The World Rover Moot is an event of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) and is being organized and hosted by the Icelandic Boy and Girl Scout Association. The plan is for 5,000 participants and 1,000 International Service team members from 80+ countries to join the Moot. 
 
This will be a combined Canadian Contingent, composed of members of Scouts Canada and of l’Association des Scouts du Canada.
 
The Co-Contingent Leader for Scouts Canada is Devon Chubey. The Co-Contingent Leader for l’Association des Scouts du Canada is Marie-Claude Lemieux.

24th World Scout Jamboree — USA

July 22 2019 to August 2, 2019
Co-educational for youth between the ages of 14 and 17 at the time of the event

At this time, this information is provided as a “save the date” reminder only.
 
The 24th World Scout Jamboree will be co-hosted by Canada, the USA and Mexico and will take place at the Summit Bechtel Family national Scout Reserve in the beautiful mountains of West Virginia USA. The World Scout Jamboree is expected to host approximately 35,000 participants from 150 different countries.  To see more about the Jamboree visit the World Scout Jamboree Website at: http://2019wsj.org/
 
This will be a combined Canadian Contingent, composed of members of Scouts Canada and of l’Association des Scouts du Canada. Organization of the Canadian Contingent will not begin until 2017, so specific information will not be available until that time.
