Off to the Races in Nipissing

BAYTODAY.CA – FEBRUARY 26, 2018

Over the weekend, around 140 Scouting youth from the Beaver to Scout age groups gathered in North Bay for the annual Nipissing Area Motor Madness event. Creating their own Beaver Buggies, Kub Kars and Scout Trucks, the youth put the Creative Expression element of the Canadian Path program into play and had a great time with friends.

Scouting Youth Host Hike for Hunger

SARNIA OBSERVER – FEBRUARY 25, 2018

During Scout-Guide Week, 3,337 pounds of food were delivered by Scouting youth to a local food bank. The Inn of the Good Shepherd supplies food to 1,800 people a month, including 700 children.

Over the past 12 years, Scouting Groups in Sarnia-Lambton have hosted the Hike for Hunger annually, accumulating a total of 38,000 pounds in food donations.

Beavers Learn About Teamwork in Local Fire Department

Mayor Declares ‘Scouting Day’ in Aurora

In honour of the 3rd Aurora Group’s ongoing and impactful presence in the community over the last 60 years, Mayor Geoff Dawe and the Council have chosen to recognize the importance of Scouting annually.

According to Mayor Dawe, Scouting provides, “Volunteer-driven opportunities that enrich the lives of local youth by giving them a positive and constructive outlet for building self-confidence, learning life skills, contributing to their community and the world around them.”

Scouting Olympic Games in Muskoka

MY MUSKOKA NOW – FEBRUARY 12, 2018

Scouting Groups in the Whispering Pines Area came together for a local Winter Olympics extravaganza, playing games like broomball, ski racing and sledge hockey.

With over 90 youth participating, the games were a fantastic way to celebrate the international PyeongChang Winter Olympics, and show some Team Canada spirit.

Beaver Buggies and Kub Kars are Off to the Races

The South Okanagan Scouting community was off to the races last weekend in Penticton, BC, for a massive round of Beaver Buggy and Kub Kar racing. With 69 Beavers, 49 Cubs and nearly 300 parents at the event, the Scouting crowd certainly raised the roof.

Scouting Revival in Parry Sound

PARRY SOUND NORTH STAR – FEBRUARY 2, 2018

Parry Sound saw a revival of the local Scouting movement at a Whispering Pines Area open house.

Attracting youth, parents and Scouting alumni, the event introduced the community to activities like knot tying, leathercraft, games and the other adventurous opportunities that Scouting offers.
