Way to go 1st AFC Scout, Shanza Khan, for receiving the Chief Scout’s Award!
Through 30+ hours of community work, Shanza raised $1,000 in funds for the Milton District Hospital Foundation by organizing local bake sales and mobilizing the community.
In Scouts, we strongly support and encourage youth-led initiatives that help youth develop well-rounded skills that prepare them for future success, and allow them to contribute to building a better world.

HAMILTON NEWS – MAY 29, 2018
Congratulations to the 4 Cubs and Beavers with the 6th Dundas Group, who received prestigious Scouting awards for leading a trail building project in Camp Nemo that mobilized 30 Scouting youth, along with Scouters and parents.
Through this youth-led initiative, the award recipients created a new nature trail that will host new outdoor adventures, leaving a legacy of what youth can achieve through Scouting.
The Seeonee Cub Scout Award and North Star Beaver Scout Award allow youth to select and execute a community service project that involves various challenges and provides skill development in several outdoor adventure areas.

Recently, 21 Scouts received the prestigious Chief Scout’s Award.
Of the various youth-led community projects they contributed to, one initiative led by Scout Jameson Dymond and his 5th Garry Oak Troop arranged for friendly meetings between youth and residents of a local seniors’ home.

During an information session, Scouters from the Kootenay-Boundary area answered questions asked by youth regarding camping trips, personal progression badges, fun events like Kub Kar rallies and more.
Scouters also touched on how parents can get involved in the Scouts Canada program through volunteering, in order to welcome even more youth into the new Group.
