I’m shutting down the Blog while I get ready for CJ. Gotta do some pushups, practice my swimming and iron my shorts (as if!). Can’t wait to see you all there.
Thanks to everyone who shared your pictures. It was sooooo cool being with you this year! The winners of the Toucs T-shirts will be chosen this week from everyone who sent in pictures. I’ll announce their names on Friday – they’ll be able to pick up their Ts of yours truly onsite.
CJ Rocks, don’t you know!
Toucs
I’m a camping fool!
Here I’m hanging out with 1st Brighton at the Pre-CJ camp at the Sandbanks Provincial Park in May. It was a great weekend and they learned a lot about CJ! They are starting to pack up for their CJ07 experience, and can’t wait to get there!
What a drag!
Me with the1st Terrace Scouts at the Terrace Drag Races. We have been working for them for the season to raise money for our trip to CJ! Man, they’ll be the first ones there!
CJ Is For The Birds Too!
“Yep, it’s me again with T Company (Transcona Manitoba Scouting) Scout Unit! We just finished our CJ Pre-camp at Camp Amisk. I wanted to take the picture but they insisted I get in on it too! How could I refuse! We all had on our new Transcona Contingent neckers, which were so bright that we even had hummingbirds flying up to us thinking we were some sort of bright new flowers. What a hummin’ experience!”
Lift that bale...
The 1ST Rockland Scouts runs the overnight site for the Courier de Bois camp for the Canadian Ski Marathon. This year marked the 41ST anniversary of this event where 2100 skiers ski 160 km in two days! The gold level skiers carry all their gear and food and sleep outside over night. The Scouts are responsible for safety, first aid, and keeping the fires burning all night for these skiers. The troop appreciated having me stopping by to lend an extra set of hands to lift and haul the 500 bales of straw that the skiers use for sitting and sleeping on.
Gotta love that wind!
The 3rd Ile Perrot Sea Scouts made room for me in their canoe during their trip May 19 - 21. We camped on islands where the breeze kept those buzzing little blackflies away. Lots of time for swimming and beautiful campfires. Ahhhh, just like CJ will be, minus the blackflies!!!
Roaming Wyoming Toucs
The Gang from Northern Star Council Troop 143 Boy Scouts of America, Wyoming, Minnesota are making final plans to visit their neighbors in the north (that's us!) They look forward to seeing us in July.

SCOPE-in it out at Blue Springs
Troop 665, Dresher Pennsylvania, attended the 2007 SCOPE/OLYMPIA Scout exchange program from Thursday, May 24th through Monday, May 28th at Blue Springs Scout Reserve near Toronto, Ontario along with their new friends from Bramalea 13th as well as over 600 Scouts from Ontario and Pennsylvania. SCOPE/OLYMPIA began in 1967 and is celebrating its 40th Anniversary during this year of the 100th Anniversary of Scouting in Canada and world-wide. The name SCOPE stands for S couts C entennial O ntario P ennsylvania E xpedition. This program allows Scouts to become part of a Canadian family and Scout Troop, attending school and then camping with fellow Scouts. Each participant becomes a member of a Canadian Scout family and Canadian Scout Troop for the weekend. Lasting friendships have developed through this international exchange program and participants experience one of the most meaningful and rewarding experiences of their Scouting career. Troop 665 thanks Bramalea 13th for its warm hospitality in this international Scout exchange program and looks forward to their visit to Pennsylvania next year. What a blast I had, don't you know!

I joined the 13th Bramalea Scouts, part of the famed 49th Regiment Light Coy, at Fort Georgethe weekend of March 30 for the winter campaign. It was great, however I need my own uniform.
Toucs: Ski Bunny!
Posted by Toucs on March 30th, 2007
Here I am with Mary Queen of Peace (MQP) Scouts/ Venturers in St. John's, Newfoundland. We took a road trip from St. John's to the White Hills Ski Resort in Clarenville via motor coach on Saturday March 24, 2007. Yes, that's me with my custom made skis and goggles. I passed on the chair lift and stuck to the bunny hill. This Troop/Company are anticipating a fantastic summer camp at CJ'07 in Quebec and are very busy preparing for CJ'07!

Get your motor running...

The Trillium Highlands Beavers,bs, Scouts, Venturers and Rovers invited me to their mall display! They had a race track set up for all the present and past members of Scouting could race their Cub cars and trucks. There were even some vintage autos! I have a little bit of experience tuning cars; I have been watching the NASCAR pit crews getting ready for the Daytona 500 this week so I though I would help out the Area Commissioner. Here I am explaining to the local OPP about Scouting (no, I am not getting arrested) since they were challenged to a race too. The event ran from 9:00 am to 4:00 m on February 17th. This was a great way to kick off BP Week in Trillium Highlands! Brrrrroooom!

Yoo hoo, guys! Here I am in Whitby ,Ontario taking part in the Christmas parade with the kids from 10th and 13th Whitby. I also got to meet my cousin from White Pine Council "White Pine Wally" (what a handsome dude). I had the best time, don't you know!
Visiting the US!
Posted by Toucs on ???????
Just before Christmas I made a quick trip down to the United States to visit some of my friends the Scouts from Troop 21 in Hudson, New Hampshire. They wanted to talk to me about the jamboree next summer. So naturally I told them all about Canada, and how they were going to be having a really great time in my home country.
The Scouts were meeting to plan their special patch for the trip. They want to make sure they have a cool patch to trade with all of the Scouts in Canada.
Gettin' a sneak peak at Tamaracouta!
Posted by Toucs on ???????
I'm tagging along with the 29th Nepean Scouts on November 25! We're exploring Tamaracouta. Fantastic weather! Wish you were here, and see you at CJ.
Can I have just a little taste?
Posted by Toucs on ???????
Honest, I really wasn't trying to sneak Scout Popcorn - I was helping the 2nd Kingsville (ON) Scouts with their sale! What would they do without me anyway. BTW it was delicious. TTFN
Oh, the weather outside is frightful, but my tent is so delightful...

When I visited with the 1st Fort Saskatchewan (Alberta) group, they (and I) had no idea their fall camp would turn into a winter camp!! Should have worn my woolies.
lol :)
Poppies 'R Us
Posted by Toucs on November 2006
If there's anything I like to do (better than camping) it's help out! When in need...just call on Toucs! Here I am with Cedar Park Heights Terra Cotta, helping out with the Legion poppy day on Saturday, November 4. Scouting youth and yours truly offered poppies all day long to shoppers at Loblaws, Kirkland, Quebec, right through the peak hours of the shopping day. In the photo you see lovable me, Cubs and Scouts from Cedar Park Heights/Terra Cotta with a Legion member. Don't like to toot my own horn...but the Legion reports that since Scouting members got involved with the collection, donations have risen dramatically!
November, 2006
In Omemee they shut down the highway for the Remembrance Day Parade, don't you know! I am marching (second from the left) arching with the 1st Omemee Troop from the Cenotaph where we had a ceremony to remember those who have sacrificed so much for our freedom. I was so happy to be invited by the Omemee Scouts, I even helped them serve supper to the veterans and their families! Twelve veterans were in the parade with me!
November, 2006
Just tagging along with the 2nd Kingsville Scouts (Ontario) for their first CJ prep camp. It was muddy, raining and blowing but we stuck it out. It's a good thing I'm waterproof!
For the Birds
Yowza! I'm everywhere - here I'm with the 1st Sutton West (Ontario) Scouts! We are all working together building bird houses to raise funds to attend CJ 2007. At the same time we are working on some woodworking and craft badges - as you can see we are having a blast!
October, 2006- Pizza anyone?
Gotta love pizza! The 1st Omemee Scouts (Ontario) invited me to the Italian Pizzeria at the White Pine Council JOTA.. The camp made pizza was baked in a cardboard box oven. The 1st Omemee Patrols won 1st and 2nd place for the Pizza competition, don't you know! Your Toucs was a big hit...it doesn't hurt when you know what the judges like on their pizza.
October, 2006 - On the Radio
Hi there, just thought that I'd let you know that I've been visiting with White Pine Council (Ontario) this past weekend, attending the largest JOTA Camp in Canada. Me and over 400 others had a real blast talking on radios; live band; fireworks, Karaoke, and so on. Here I am on the Ham Radio with Scout Connor...he's almost as cool as me! Where else can you stay up late and talk to other Scouts all around the world? My fellow Scouters talked to people in Australia, Germany, Mississippi, Texas, Florida, and Switzerland.
We also set up camp in the rain; of course, cool Scout that I am, I was prepared and had a rain suit. Can you believe it...we saw a movie, projected onto the large tent behind me as the screen.
Your Toucs then directed the Headquarters Volunteers to cook breakfast for all 400 participants.. I wonder if I'll have to make the food for CJ07? Delegate...that's the thing!
Here I am at JOTA, with Joe, a Whitby Rover Crew Member from 1st Omemee, Ontario. He doesn't know I'm watching him receive his Queen Scout! Ha, ha! This was a surprise to him, but I knew about it. Nice to see these lads and ladies staying in Scouting as long as I have.

Here I am, singin' along with the 236th Toronto!
Didn't I just have a blast - I learned all the words to "A Little History", sung by the 236th First Light Scout Band. The song music and words written by Scouter Jim Sloan are on their website at: www.236toronto.com.
I do have a pretty mean set of pipes, if I do say so myself. Ahem...me me me me meeeeee...
You know, it would be cool if we could all sing the song together at CJ. Just a thought!
Later, gators!
