“Hey Scouts, I’m Puffy the Puffin! I’m the official mascot for the 2017 Canadian Jamboree in Nova Scotia. I’m excited to meet you all next summer and take you on some epic adventures in my home province. I have travelled all over Nova Scotia with my family and Scout Troop, and am excited to share these awesome experiences with all of you!
Next summer, I am planning to work on my Outdoor Adventure Skills (OAS), especially, Scoutcraft, Emergency Aid and Aquatic Skills! I love swimming and can’t wait to get to the next stage for Aquatics.
Are you on the Canadian Path too? I hope so because next summer is all about Youth-led Adventures, and Scouts get to plan all the fun things they will be doing. If you don’t know much about the Canadian Path, I can teach you! I always like helping out and leading other Cubs and first year Scouts. I can also show you how to dive correctly into the ocean and how to be safe while catching Herring on the shore. There are so many fun things I can’t wait to show you at CJ’17 – is it summer 2017 yet?
Oh, and I almost forgot to mention that I’m going to CJ’17 as a solo participant! My Scout Troop couldn’t make it, but that’s okay because there are lots of youth travelling alone who I can be friends with. I bet you would be a pretty awesome friend to have. Next summer we can check out the awesome aquatics programs and go on some pretty epic hikes or bike rides! We can even check out the nighttime programs because I heard there’s one of Nova Scotia’s top bands performing! Best part about CJ’17 is that the adventures are up to us and I can’t wait to start planning!”
Anna F. from the 13th Woodstock Scout Troop was the winner of the CJ’17 Mascot Contest. Her winning entry of ‘Puffy the Puffin’ was developed into the Puffy you see above. Anna won free registration to CJ’17 for next summer (valued at $525). You too can join Anna and thousands of Scout-aged youth from across Canada at CJ’17!
