Scouts Canada's Mission Statement

The mission of Scouting is to contribute to the education of young people, through a value system based on the Scout Promise and Law, to help build a better world where people are self-fulfilled as individuals and play a constructive role in society.

Scouting's Unique Features

Scouting looks after our youth members - we conduct screening of all adults involved in the program, provide training and risk management to leaders, and insurance for program activities.

Volunteer Screening - we have a volunteer screening program in place to ensure the safety and protection of children in our care. All new applications are screened through an interview and reference checks and are required to provide police record checks.

Duty of Care - the primary responsibility of adults in the Scout Movement is the welfare and development of youth members. To help guide our volunteers, a Code of Conduct has been developed.

Program Quality Standards - we have developed a set of program standards to ensure that a quality program is provided to our youth.

Scouting - A Family Affair! - Scouting is one of the few community activities which welcomes all members of the family.
