Program Builder Online:  Please check it out.  You can now create your own username and password -- you no longer need an MMS password to log in.  The Program Builder is a great resource for leaders.  And we welcome your contributions so it can be even better.

talkscouts.ca:  Join the conversation!  talkscouts.ca provides a discussion forum where our members can share their ideas.  It's a place for collaboration and networking.  Please visit, register and participate!  There are lots of great discussions taking place already.

Olympics:  I was pleased to learn recently that a fellow Scouter has been selected to carry the torch for part of its journey, on the way to the winter games in Vancouver.

Wouldn't it be cool if Scouts and Scouters everywhere did this?

There is a contest for it, and anyone can enter... Please share the link, and apply!

And, if any other members of Scouting win, please let us know.  Imagine if Scouting members joined in along the route to support their fellow Scouts.  I believe we need to be more visible in our communities, and this is one example of how that could be accomplished.

Until the next entry, good Scouting!

http://www.carrythetorch.com

Re: Program Builder access, talkscouts.ca and the Olympics

Hi Steve

www.Scoutstalk.ca has great potential, but no visibility. May I humbly suggest a link from the Scouts.ca homepage to the discussion group. there are 3 "empty" spots on the page.
117 members and 345 posts (I know, it's the off-season) is minimal.
Just a thought

Re: Program Builder access, talkscouts.ca and the Olympics

Hi Hans, Personally I run several lists of my own on YAHOOGROUPS, and also belong to several Forums such as this one. With (today) 120 members and 107 topics it seems about average to me. 75-80% of members are usually lurkers. It would be interesting to know how many "visits" there are each day. OF COURSE YOU are quite correct and it would be great to see 1000 members of this Forum (5% of the present volunteer numbers would be pretty good), I think it is up to us to "talk it up" on every Scouting "List" where you belong. There are at least 4 on Yahoo that I know about; and I see a number of names that are very familiar to me gravitating this way. I guess that it is a question of waiting for them to take the trouble to sign up here. ALSO talk it up and encourage the Leaders in your Group/Area/Council to sign up...AND YES, a link from the Scouts Canada home page that clearly says "TALKSCOUTS.CA" FORUM would be most valuable. Perhaps in the same block with Facebook and Twitter Logos. As far a SCOUT FOCUS is concerned, I feel that should, rightly, only be for Steve and Jessica.

Re: Program Builder access, talkscouts.ca and the Olympics

Just a comment on the program builder. Great concept with alot of great ideas and resources but after trying to use it to build my cub program I am finding it a bit cumbersome. Unless I am doing something wrong you cannot seem to get an overal summary of your program. just something that show you a 12 week window of what you have planned. I find myself flipping back and forth continually between pages.

Some something to look at if we are making improvements.
