Scouts Canada is seeking applications for Council Youth Commissioner (CYC) in the Nova Scotia Council.
The CYC works as an equal with a volunteer Council Commissioner and paid Council Relationship Manager, as part of the Council Key 3, to manage all aspects of the Council. They are also a member of Scouts Canada National Service Team providing vision for the Scouting Movement in Canada.
Along with their Council Key 3, the CYC will participate in the development and execution of the council’s annual business plan to support the delivery of Scouts Canada’s programs and the organization’s five priorities for success. The CYC shall be a catalyst for promoting meaningful youth involvement within the Council and ensuring that youth-led programs are actively supported and recognized in conjunction with the Area Youth Commissioners (AYCs).
As the CYC, youth will have the opportunity to take on new challenges and initiatives at both the Council and National levels. They will have the chance to meet new people in and out of Scouts, and most importantly, they can be the voice that helps to grow and promote Scouting. These roles are open to members and non-members of Scouts Canada.
Applicants must submit:
- CV detailing your current Scouting role and Group (if applicable), Scouting background (and other community involvement), awards and recognition and leadership roles in and out of Scouting

- Name, telephone number and email address
Successful applicants will serve for a 1-year term, renewable up to 3 years.
Deadline for applications is February 3, 2019.
