The Deputy Council Commissioner (DCC) – Safe Scouting plays a key role within their council, The DCC Safety Group chair is required to ensure DCC’s work together, supporting each other and the Director of Safe Scouting.

Accountable to: Director of Safe Scouting and Deputy National Commissioner  – Volunteer Services

Term: Appointed annually by the Director of Safe Scouting

Time required: 2 to 5 hours per month

Responsibilities:

  • Organize regular telephone meetings for DCC’s including setting the agenda
  • Provide feedback to the Director of Safe Scouting including recommendations for policy changes or projects
  • Liaise and DNC – Volunteer Services to ensure joined up working
  • Assist in the management if the DCC “one drive” folders

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Member of Scouts Canada
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to work with all levels of management, staff, and volunteers.
  • A good understanding of safety and Scouts Canada’s safety agenda
  • Ability to chair meetings and provide feedback and notes/reports
  • Model positive behaviors appropriate to Scouting
  • WB 1 Canadian Path
