Scouts Canada is seeking a strategic Director, Development to join our team in our National Office in Ottawa!

We are looking for a Director of Development to provide leadership in managing the goals of the Development Department with a focus on executing the fundraising strategy, specifically building on and growing our Foundation, Corporate, Sponsorship, Major Gift, Individual Giving, Planned Giving, Government and Group Fundraising Programs and Scouts Canada’s national fundraiser and popcorn campaign.
In collaboration with key volunteers, you will execute design and implement a revenue development strategy, build an annual fundraising campaign with a focus on major gifts and manage and oversee special fundraising events. Your experience and success in the areas of Foundations, Government Relations, Individual Giving, Planned Giving and national fundraisers ideally positions you to coach and mentor the Development team as you work together in accomplishing the plan.
You have a proven track record in effective donor relationship-building skills, with the ability to be tactful, proactive, and diplomatic, and have superior interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to work closely and cooperatively across different levels of the organization and externally. Additionally, your highly developed analytical and business planning skills with a proven track record for long term visioning and big picture thinking has contributed to your success to date. Your excellent writing abilities have highlighted your ability to draft compelling and persuasive correspondence to donors and prospects.
The ideal candidate will have post-secondary education in fundraising or CFRE combined with a minimum of 5-7 years of experience in generalized fundraising and a solid track record of achievement in the strategic planning, implementation and management of comprehensive fundraising campaigns.
