About Matt

Matt’s first love is creative communications, a convergence of culture, innovation, art, and community. He believes that the measure of creativity is its impact on the community. Matt thrives in crafting projects for various sectors, including non-profits, private firms, Indigenous communities, immigrants, and refugees. Previously a Flight Attendant licensed Financial Advisor, and skilled Marketer, he embraces Winnipeg's unique sentiment, heralding it as a city with a homely heart.

Passion and Expertise

As a career transition coach, Matt guides individuals through career changes, helping them uncover their life's purpose and tap into their potential. By evaluating strengths, values, and interests, he enables clients to discover fitting career paths, creating success stories through his mentorship.

Mentoring Philosophy

Matt advocates holistic coaching, considering internal and external factors for growth. This method is rooted in emotional intelligence principles and knowledge of resources. He says, “In every unequal playing field, one finds a tool to leverage—usually within oneself.” Audiences often hear Matt highlight three essential pieces for professional success. About Kash

Kash is an eco-enthusiast with a bachelor’s degree in commerce, dedicated to teaching vital life skills to youth, spotlighting the significance of environmental consciousness within Scouts Canada.

Passion and Expertise

Kash serves as a certified apiarist, nurturing a passion for bees and beekeeping. He is also a numismatist who delves into the world of coins. He loves to learn and meet new people on the path of broadening his mind.

Mentoring Philosophy

Kash's commitment to sustainable living finds its perfect match in the Learn to Lead program. He infuses his mentoring with a blend of hands-on experience and a zest for exploration.


About Sonia

Passionate educator and advocate for positive change, Sonia brings a wealth of experience and a heart full of compassion to the Learn to Lead program. With a strong academic foundation and a burning desire to inspire others, she is committed to building a better future through education. Sonia is a bibliophile with a penchant for audio books who immerses herself in literature to nurture her mind. 

Passion and Expertise

Armed with a background in English Literature and currently pursuing a master's degree in education at the University of Manitoba, she has always been drawn to the transformative power of education. With a consistent drive to make a difference, she loves to empower and influence others for a better future.

Mentoring Philosophy

Sonia's mentoring philosophy is deeply rooted in fostering creativity and critical thinking skills. Currently engaged in researching the role of creativity in education, she recognizes that creativity is an essential skill in today's rapidly evolving world. She believes that nurturing these skills among participants in our mentoring program is a stepping stone toward shaping them into future leaders.


About Geoff

Geoff is a born-and-bred adventure seeker. He is consistently searching for new experiences and innovative ways of approaching old trends. He values strength-based approaches to learning and development in a hands-on environment.

Passion and Expertise

With a background in theatre and communications, Geoff integrates his knowledge in production design and management into the realm of youth education. Having dedicated almost ten years to Scouts Canada, he is excited to start bridging gaps from core programs into ones that are more adaptable and accessible for today's youth.

Mentoring Philosophy

Geoff's passion lies in delving deep into the realm of neurodivergences like ADHD and ASD. He will never shy away from an opportunity to showcase the incredible superpowers that can arise from these unique perspectives.


About Osagie

Osagie is a servant leader with over a decade of driving social impact, business process improvement and human capital development through innovation and stewardship across different spheres of society. He has a bachelor’s degree in communications and a master’s in human resources and personnel management.   

Passion and Expertise

Prior to working as a program specialist at Scouts Canada, he worked in numerous capacities as a recruiter, banker, public relations consultant, and music tutor, developing a robust skillset in problem-solving, communications, and relationship management. 

Mentoring Philosophy

He is passionate about mentoring and empowering others to be better versions of themselves through tech-driven programming, solutions, and processes. He strongly believes that leadership is not about showing off one’s superpowers but helping others discover theirs.


About Konain

Konain is a technology enthusiast with a deep interest in staying fit, reading about current affairs, and following the financial markets. Prior to joining Scouts Canada as a Program Specialist, he was a business owner, a management consultant, an investment banker, a non-profit volunteer, a bartender, and a betting cashier. Through these experiences, he has harnessed a great deal of empathy and emotional intelligence - two must-haves in any leader's toolkit.

Passion and Expertise

He has a bachelor's and a master's in the STEM field and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Ottawa where he is studying the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on healthcare.

Mentoring Philosophy

Konain's mentoring philosophy revolves around realizing the power of social connections and synergies to augment team capabilities. As the popular saying goes, "The whole is more than the sum of its parts." 

 


About Mercy

Mercy, a dynamic and compassionate individual, is dedicated to community empowerment and social change. With a master’s degree in public health, she channels her passion for positive impact. A strong advocate, she fosters inclusivity, social justice, and equality through community engagement, youth mentorship, and strategic program development.

Passion and Expertise

Mercy's experience includes working with grassroots organizations and NGOs focused on improving nutrition, education access, women's rights, and poverty alleviation. She has organized and facilitated workshops on conflict resolution, leadership development, and emotional well-being, demonstrating her dedication to holistic growth.

Mercy's mentoring philosophy centers on fostering self-discovery and resilience. She believes that empowering individuals to harness their strengths leads to transformational change. Mercy is a strong advocate for collaborative learning and emphasizes the importance of embracing diverse perspectives. 


About Oluyemisi

A skilled communicator and passionate adventurer, Oluyemisi holds a bachelor's degree in Geography and a master's degree in business administration. With a deep commitment to guiding youth towards self-improvement, she is dedicated to helping youth discover their best selves.

Passion and Expertise

Oluyemisi's dedication extends to ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants. She possesses expertise in safety protocols, risk assessment, and emergency response procedures, creating a secure environment for youth during program activities. Oluyemisi is also adept at planning and executing various activities aligned with the Learn to Lead program.

Oluyemisi's mentoring philosophy is all about nurturing the unique potential in each youth! Together, all the team members will explore uncharted territories, conquer challenges, and cultivate skills that will serve the youth not just in the Learn to Lead Program but in every facet of life. She believes in the power of teamwork, resilience, and learning from every experience.
