Delivering training in a timely, consistent and scalable method will ultimately ensure the successful implementation of myscouts.ca across the Scouting community. Volunteer training for the system will be based on a “train the trainer” model, with provision of both materials and support.
There will be several different training resources for Registrars including admin system webinars, train the trainer webinars, written training materials including and presentations. This training is scheduled to take place on February 22 & 23, 2012 – the training webinar will be recorded and posted for later reference. We’re committed to ensuring all volunteers have the information they need to use the new myscouts.ca system. Please click here for the memo regarding myscouts.ca project training plan.
In December 2011, training was undertaken for Council Registrars for myscouts.ca admin – the “back-end” administrative portion of the system – and participants were given access to the admin test environment. Please click here for the Administration training materials for Council Registrars.
In January 2012 we engaged 50 volunteer testers from across the country to assist with identifying remaining issues in the system. They provided feedback for fixes, improvements and training input in preparation for the myscouts.ca launch. Their feedback was entered into our bug testing and tracking system, and prioritized based on functionality requirements and process.
With our thanks
The success of myscouts.ca will owe a great debt of gratitude to the incredible cast of volunteer supporters across the country. They have touched every aspect of the project to date: planning, oversight, management, technical specifications, testing, problem solving, and now of course training! The “train the trainer” model depends on diligent volunteers and staff to learn the unique features of the system and then impart that knowledge to others successfully.
As myscouts.ca develops we’ll continue to engage with, and harness volunteer expertise and feedback to build a robust and relevant tool for the Scouting community. Our sincerest thanks to the volunteers who lead this organization and to those who have participated on this project.
