Program Quality Guide

The Amory Award is given annually to the company which displays the most initiative in conceiving, planning and executing an outdoor adventure activity.

This award was first presented by the Rt. Hon. Viscount Amory, GCMG, one-time British High Commissioner to Canada. The award plaque has a reproduction of Jacques Cartier’s ship Grande Hermine and the Canadian space satellite Allouette mounted on it.

Vocational Venturer Companies are sponsored by local Emergency Services. The program is an opportunity for youth to learn about Emergency Medical Service, Policing, and Firefighting.

Medical Venturers

Medical Venturers—often called Medvents—are Companies sponsored by local Emergency Medical Services. Medvents receive increasingly advanced medical training over the course of the program. Their training is put to good use providing volunteer First Aid support at Scout camps and charitable events.

Police Venturers

Police Venturing offers youth the opportunity to learn about what goes on behind the scenes in law enforcement, and to work with their local police department to assist in crime prevention initiatives and community events.

Fire Venturers

Fire Venturers are sponsored by their local departments. The program provides youth with the opportunity to receive training in firefighting procedures and equipment, and in medical first response.
