12 Beaver Scouts from 1st Soutfields Village attended a “learn to fish” activity at Heart Lake, organized by the TRCA. Two members of the TRCA spent 1 hour teaching our Beavers about the basics of finishing, safety (gear to wear, PFDs..) and sustainability (licensing etc) of the sport as well as the dangers of invasive species in our lakes. We then spent 1 hour practicing how to use a fishing rod, holding, casting, reeling. Some kids had fished many times and shared their knowledge, while others tried it for the first time. Two fish were caught, inspected and returned to the lake safely
