Canadian Scout Jamboree 2017

Author: Keegan Eatmon

Scouting adventures have been celebrated with jamborees in Canada since 1949 in Connaught Ranges, Ontario. With thousands of Scouts at each one, there is no shortage of new friendships, picture perfect memories and opportunities to explore new parts of Canada.

One of the most remarkable things about jamborees are their ability to connect people. There are thousands of Canadians who have experienced a jamboree and would easily call it one of their best childhood memories. Whether it was ’77 in PEI or ’97 in Thunder Bay, past Scouts will share stories of the people they met and the experiences they had. These memories are created not only at the jamboree, but when travelling to get there. Whether it be canoeing from New Brunswick to PEI, or being part of the hundreds of Scouts in the Maritime Train Contingent heading to Quebec for CJ’07 – the stories of epic travels are endless.

In 2007, the Canadian Jamboree was one of the hundred around the World celebrating 100 years of Scouting. In July 2017, we’ll also be hosting a special celebration — Canada’s 150th birthday. Scouting has been a part of Canada for over 109 years and has contributed on a significant level to the development of young people who today lead our country.

Every day at a jamboree is a new experience. Whether you are exploring the X-Centre (which has been named St. Andrews Plaza for CJ’17), pushing new heights on the climbing wall, or cooling off with a swim in the lake, the adventures at CJ’17 will be endless. CJ’17 is the first jamboree to be built on the Canadian Path. For the thousands of Scouts who will be there, this will mean even MORE choices of how to experience your jamboree. Unplanned programs will give you the chance to develop new skills in a variety of the Outdoor Adventure Skills. Off-site trips will let you experience what Nova Scotia has to offer and will complement the huge variety of programs on-site.

You can start planning your adventure to join us from July 8th-16th at Camp Nedooae in Elderbank, Nova Scotia today at:!
