Refuge is the thing I appreciate most after a long day of hiking, portaging, or other fun adventures. For me, a good tent is an essential part of any outdoor excursion, and having some good cover over your head when you hear that rainstorm rolling in right after the campfire is a nice reassurance there will be a restful night ahead.
In my initial testing of the Eureka Apex 2XT, it proves to fit the bill quite well! It was a dream to set up, taking only about 5 minutes to set up by myself. A versatile home for the night, the Eureka Apex 2XT offers lots of space to set out your gear, set up a sleeping pad + bag, and still have some space to move around. Ready for all seasons, the ventilation available allows this to be a comfortable sleep in the summer months, and a cozy space in the late winter if you really batten down the hatches.
While I might recommend this primarily as a shelter for one-person, if you’re on a longer camping trip and have a more generous packing budget, it certainly offers enough room for two-people (and their gear!) on a lightweight hike or canoe portage. When completely packed, it is lightweight enough to carry in a backpack, and the fiberglass poles eliminate even more weight for maximum portability. The Eureka Apex 2XT is a dynamic choice for Scouts, Venturers, and Rovers going on exciting wilderness adventures.
Right now, the Apex 2XT is available from the Scout Shop for only $175, and would be a perfect gift for any Scouting adventurer!
