This past fall our Beavers went to Scout Reserve Tamaracouta for our 1st camping trip of the season. The theme chosen was Plants Vs Zombies.
Like any good Scouter we were checking the weather forecast often, and it was getting worse and worse. We had planned on camping in the Prospector tents but we had to quickly change those plans – the weather forecast announced HEAVY rains and HIGH winds. What we ended up with were the Tornadoes that hit areas not too far from us!
We were so grateful that TSR took care of us and moved us to the Lodge and a few cabins. We were safe and sound! The next day we had sunshine!
Some of the marvelous things about TSR is that 1) it is so close to us and 2) The amazing options they offer in terms of OAS activities! Our Beavers had done wall climbing last year and this year they wanted to canoe on open water. They practiced their paddling skills last season, but in a pool. They were now ready for the open waters!
It is amazing that 5 year olds can canoe so well. There were more than a few that had already canoed with their families, and they were very knowledgeable!
We had 3 Cubs that offered their service at this camp. 2 of them slept in a hammock the second night. What an experience!
The Beavers had fun canoeing, playing with the pea shooters they made, building shelters and discovering the camp.
