Our Cub pack chose Harry Potter as their theme for Winter Camp. Each cub was mailed their acceptance letter to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardly, along with their train ticket to Platform 9 ¾. This built excitement for the upcoming camp. They prepared for their upcoming school by crafting their own wands at the last meeting for camp.
Once all of the Wizards and Witches arrived the Sorting Hat sung its song and sorted all of the youth into their respective houses: Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin. They bunked by House, ate by House, and performed chores by House.
The Harry Potter theme fit so well into our Winter OAS skills. The kids made Harry Potter scarves, they learned about the environment, they crafted wands and learned basic wizard skills.
We camped at Cap St-Jacques Nature Park, located in the West Island (Island of Montreal). Included in the rental is a fully stocked kitchen (so much less gear to lug around) and animation for the 2 days. The kids chose snowshoeing and winter shelter building. We had several other activities animated, a tour in their eco museum and a visit to the farm.
We also got in some fun sledding, more OAS skills checked off having fun! They even cooked their own lunch over a fire outside.
This was such a fun and exciting camp, we can’t wait to see what theme they choose for the next camp!
