Camp Adventureland Celebrates its 50th Anniversary in 2020!

Camp Adventureland Summer Camp is a great place for youth to have fun while exploring the outdoors. Here are some details of the camp and if you still have questions, please feel free to contact us. You do not need to be in Scouting to enroll at Adventureland, however there is a ONE TIME fee for nonmembers to cover the cost of Scouting membership and insurance. This fee is only applied to your first week of registration.

Camp Adventureland is operated by Scouts Canada - Greater Toronto Council for boys and girls aged 6 - 15 and is located at Woodland Trails Scout Camp in Stouffville. Adventureland Goes North and Kennabic and LIT Goes North take place at Haliburton Scout Reserve near the town of Haliburton.

There Are 5 Ways to Enjoy Camp Adventureland

Overnight Camp

Ages 7–11

  • July 6-10, 2020 – Around the World in 5 Days Week
  • July 13-17, 2020 - Harry Potter Week
  • July 20-24, 2020 - Pirates Week
  • July 27-31, 2020 - Survival Week

Our residential camp operates Monday-Friday and is a 5 day/4 night camp where campers sleep in cabins with 4-6 youths. Each week offers a different theme but the activities offered are the same and include: swimming, mountain biking, crafts, archery, sports, climbing wall and high ropes. An electives programs also allows campers to choose specific areas of interest and include programs such as swim skills, snorkeling, bubble soccer, survival skills, indoor cooking, outdoor cooking over fire, advanced mountain biking and climbing.

A busing option is available from the Don Mills area in Toronto for an additional fee. Limited to 100 campers per week.

Day Camp

Ages 6–11

  • July 6-10, 2020 – Around the World in 5 Days Week
  • July 13-17, 2020 - Harry Potter Week
  • July 20-24, 2020 - Pirates Week
  • July 27-31, 2020 - Survival Week

Our day camp is for campers who would like to attend Adventureland without the sleepover. Operating Monday-Friday morning drop off is 7:30 - 8:45am and afternoon pickup is 4:30-6:00pm daily. Lunch and snacks are provided. Each week offers a different theme but the programs offered are the same and include: swimming, mountain biking, sports, crafts, archery, climbing wall and high ropes. An optional overnight is organized weekly for a nominal fee so that day campers can enjoy the overnight experience. Limited to 100 campers per week.

Leadership Development Camp (LIT)

Ages 12–15 

  • July 5-10, 2020 – Around the World in 5 Days Week
  • July 12-17, 2020 - Harry Potter Week
  • July 19-24, 2020 - Pirates Week
  • July 26-31, 2020 - Survival Week
  • August 16-22, 2020 – LIT Goes North

Operating from Sunday to Friday, this camp is especially designed for leaders-in-training. LITs (Leaders in Training) will experience the awesome programs offered at Adventureland as well as learn some valuable leadership and team building skills. LIT's must attend the training weekend held June 12-14, 2020 (at no additional cost). A personalized set of goals are developed with each LIT who will meet with their LIT Co-Coordinator daily to review their progress. Limited to 35 campers per week.

Adventureland Goes North

Ages 10–11

August 9–15, 2020

This camp is a wilderness based camp for campers who are ready for even more outdoor adventures. The camp offers an advanced wilderness camping experience at Haliburton Scout Reserve, located in Haliburton, Ontario. Campers will experience sleeping in tents, cooking outdoors, various programs and having to canoe everywhere! This program was designed initially as a transition camp for youth moving from Cubs to Scouts. Program activities planned include: archery, climbing, trappers cabin, survival, snorkeling, star gazing and more. Campers will develop camping skills such as: putting up their own tents, outdoor cooking, fire building, and basic scout skills such as knots, first aid, etc. Busing fees from Toronto are included in this camp fee.

Adventureland Camp Kennabic

Ages 12–15

August 9–15, 2020 AND August 16–22, 2020

This camp is similar to Adventureland Goes North but is catered to an older group of more experienced campers at Haliburton Scout Reserve located in Haliburton, Ontario. Campers spend the week residing on a rustic island with their own swimming area. With canoeing as the only means of transportation to the main land. Programs include: kayaking, sailing, rappelling, and more. Kennabic will participate in programs offered at Adventureland Goes North as well as riflerey (parent consent required), rappelling and an overnight hike planned by the youth themselves. Campers will develop camping skills such as: putting up their own tents, outdoor cooking, fire building, and basic scout skills such as knots, first aid, and use of Scout knives, axes, saw, lanterns, and stoves. Busing fees from Toronto are included in this camp fee. Kennabic is also a great opportunity for a Troop or several members within a Troop to take advantage of a week long adventure at HSR, especially if their own Troop does not have a summer camp offered.

LIT GOES NORTH Camp (LIT)

Ages 12–15

August 16–22, 2020

In order to attend LIT Goes North, it is a pre requisite that you completed a minimum of one week of Leadership Development Camp in 2020 or a previous summer(s). This program expands on the goal of leadership development in a wilderness setting at Haliburton Scout Reserve. Similar to the programs of regular Goes North and Kennabic, LIT Goes North allows participants to continue to progress on their goals set in July.

What's Included?

Camp fees include all meals, camp crest, a camp T-shirt, as well as a treat from the snack shop twice a week. Insurance coverage is also included in the fees through Scouts Canada.

All staff are fully screened in accordance with Scouts Canada policies.

Experienced cooks can accommodate most dietary restrictions. Adventureland is a peanut sensitive camp. On-site medical services are available 24-hours.
