Adventure Facilitator
Term: Casual/On-Call
Location: Camp Byng, Robert’s Creek, BC and Camp Wetaskiwin, St. Catharines, ON

An Adventure Facilitator will support the property by leading and facilitating outdoor and adventure-based activities for groups visiting the site, as well as campers during events, on a casual/on-call basis. The role involves working outdoors, showcasing leadership skills and working with diverse groups of people.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and facilitate a variety of outdoor and adventure activities, including but not limited to team-building exercises, hiking, canoeing, archery, and other camp-related activities.
- Provide a positive and engaging experience for participants of all ages, ensuring safety and adherence to property guidelines.
- Assist in the preparation and clean-up of activities and equipment.
- Communicate effectively with camp staff, event organizers, and participants to ensure activities run smoothly.
- Monitor and assess the safety of participants during activities and respond appropriately to any incidents or emergencies.
- Adapt activities to meet the needs and skill levels of participants.

- Strong interpersonal skills, a friendly manner and the ability to work with all levels of staff, volunteers and external visitors
- Reliable, punctual and dependable with a proven ability to work independently as well as to perform effectively in a team environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Solid project management skills and ability to coordinate, plan and schedule multiple projects at the same time
- Exceptional organizational skills and time management to prioritize activities and allocate resources effectively.
Qualifications
- High School Education
- Experience working with youth or community groups is an asset.
- Experience in leading outdoor activities, adventure programming, or working in a camp setting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work well in a team environment and independently.
- Current certification in First Aid/CPR (or willingness to obtain).
- Knowledge of outdoor safety practices and risk management.
- Flexible availability and willingness to work on an on-call basis.
- Certifications in specific adventure activities (e.g., lifeguarding, canoeing, rock climbing) are a plus.
- PRC (Police Record Check) and VSS (Vulnerable Sector Check) are required, prior to the start date
- Proficient in MS Office, including Excel, Word and Outlook
Working Conditions
- Outdoor work environment, sometimes in varying weather conditions.
- Requires physical activity, including lifting and moving equipment.
- Casual/on-call hours, which may include weekends and evenings.

Physical Demands
- Working Outdoors in various weather conditions
- Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs
- Pushing, pulling and bending over frequently
- Extended periods of time standing and/or walking on uneven terrain
Compensation
Minimum wage in accordance with provincial standards, plus an additional $0.50 per hour.
Ontario: Minimum wage $17.20 per hour +$0.50= $17.70 per hour
British Columbia: Minimum wage $17.40 per hour + $0.50=$17.90 per hour.
