Human Resources Assistant — Summer Contract

Do you think you have what it takes to become our Human Resources Assistant? If you answered yes- we want to hear from you! We are looking to hire an HR Assistant for an 8 Week contract commencing mid-June.

Reporting to the Team Lead, Human Resources the Human Resources Assistant will support the  operations of HR through providing administrative support to HR programs.  The HR Assistant will support an employee-oriented, high performance culture that emphasizes the values of Scouts Canada and facilitates the achievement of the business plan and high levels of employee engagement. The HR Assistant will be responsible for providing a consistently high standard of administrative support to the human resources department. Other responsibilities will include aiding in the organization of the overall workload and ensure the effective use of manpower and resources to assist in the smooth running of the department.


General Responsibilities

  • Will assist with the maintenance an upkeeping of employee records and ensuring accuracy of records.
  • Assist with recording, mailing and/or filing appropriate employment documents specific to the various classifications of employees.
  • Draft routine memoranda/correspondence
  • Copy, distributes, and files documents and records.
  • May assist with posting or advertising recruitment information on websites as assigned.
  • Prepare materials for employee orientation sessions, staff development and training, and other employee communications, as assigned.
  • Perform research for the team as needed; assists with special projects and performs related duties as assigned.
  • Perform other Human Resources related duties as requested.




  • Superior client service and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to be seen as a trusted advisor.
  • A well-developed business acumen.
  • High level of attention to detail well developed influencing, negotiating and coaching skills and strong communication skills.
  • Solid project management skills and ability to coordinate, plan and schedule multiple projects and budgets at the same time.
  • Strong presentation skills, strong analytical skills, ability to work independently and with all levels throughout the organization.
  • Ability to analyze data.
  • Highly motivated and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexible and able to adapt to changing priorities while remaining focused in order to meet targeted deadlines.




  • Post-secondary level education in accounting or finance
  • Strong understanding of accounting concepts
  • Advanced MS Excel skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamic GP is an asset
