Human Resources Coordinator — 1 year contract

Scouts Canada has an opportunity for a Human Resources Coordinator to join our team. This is a one-year term with the possibility of an extension.

Reporting directly to the Director, Human Resources the Human Resources Coordinator supports managers and employees with day-to-day operations of the HR office acting as a trusted advisor while delivering on the HR strategy. The Human Resources Coordinator assists in providing a wide range of HR advice and guidance to their client group through the execution of initiatives such as ad-hoc reports, maintaining employee files, on-boarding and talent management. The Human Resources Coordinator will facilitate an employee-oriented, high performance culture that emphasizes the values of Scouts Canada and facilitates the achievement of the business plan and high levels of employee engagement.

Specifically, you will be responsible for:

  • Developing close working relationships with client groups by demonstrating a solid understanding of the drivers of the departments.
  • Working in partnership with hiring managers, facilitates and supports the end-to-end recruitment activities with a strong focus on people, processes and continuous improvement.
  • Conducting regular follow-up with managers to determine the effectiveness of recruiting plans and implementation.
  • Developing a pool of qualified candidates in advance of need.
  • Building networks to find qualified passive candidates.
  • Assist in the creation and updating of employee files (hard and soft copies)
  • Will compile and analyze HR metrics and report and identify trends and provide recommendations. Develops reporting on training for career pathing, succession planning and subsequent training programs
  • Researches, develops plan and implements policies, programs or training in order to meet legislative requirements or emerging business needs.

Education, Experience & Skills

  • 2-4 years of Human Resources experience including 2 years of full-cycle recruitment experience.
  • Post-Secondary Education in Human Resources or other appropriate field
  • Innovative thinker, able to use and develop new sources for recruitment.
  • Able to work in a result focused environment.
  • Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with departments, key business partners, and employees.
  • Excellent in all MS Office (focus on Excel)
  • Outstanding interviewing skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet departmental targets.
  • Bilingualism is considered an asset.

Working Conditions

  • Office environment
  • Some work is extremely deadline driven
  • Regular office hours, some evening and weekend work may be required
  • Some travel may be required to attend and conduct job fairs
  • Long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers, which can cause muscle strain
  • Must remain discrete and maintain high levels of confidentiality
  • Must role model values of Scouts Canada including the Child and Youth Safety program.
  • Successful PRC (Police Record Check) and VSS (Vulnerable Sector Check) required
  • Mandatory training requirement
