Message from the NK3
As we reflect on the 2023/24 Scouting year, we are filled with pride in what our nationwide community of volunteers, staff, youth and supporters have accomplished. Despite ongoing challenges, including rising costs and the continued slower-than-anticipated recovery from the pandemic, our Scouting movement has shown resilience and a renewed commitment to our mission of preparing youth for a successful future.

Message from the Board Chair
As I reflect on my first year as Chair of Scouts Canada, I am filled with a deep sense of gratitude and pride. Stepping into this role from outside of the Scouting community, I’ve had the privilege of bringing an external perspective, one that continually fuels my admiration for the enduring impact that Scouting has on young people across Canada.
Our Moment to Shine
Now more than ever, our communities are counting on us. In a world full of digital distractions and ongoing strife, the importance of youth engaging in outdoor adventures and forging strong friendships has never been clearer — and Scouting is perfectly poised to meet this need.
As a passionate community of over 14,000 volunteers, we are uniquely positioned to make a profound impact on the lives of youth and their families. We believe in the boundless potential of youth; Scouting kindles the spark within them to lead and discover their passions.
As we face future challenges, our mission is to empower more leaders and innovators within our ranks. To achieve this, our path is clear:
- More Spaces Locally: Focus on creating more opportunities for young people to participate in Scouts by engaging volunteers across the country, ensuring that every community has access to high-quality Scouting experiences.
- New Audiences: Reach youth from diverse backgrounds by piloting alternative Scouting models and exploring early years programming to make Scouting accessible to 400 young people traditionally underrepresented in our programs.
- Greater Inclusivity: Develop initiatives to ensure underrepresented groups, including Indigenous communities, feel welcome and achieve the same outcomes as any other youth in Scouting.
- Outdoor Adventures: Provide more opportunities for youth to experience outdoor adventures, expanding our property portfolio and exploring the potential of urban adventure centres.
Our vision is bold: to cultivate a generation of happier, healthier youth who will leave a positive mark on the world. Together, we can be a cornerstone for families seeking to thrive in today's world.
The time to act is now. Join us in this pivotal movement, and together, let’s light the way forward for our Scouts and their communities.
