Greater Toronto Council - Police Record Check Process

This process applies to New Scouters and Volunteers in the Greater Toronto Council who have not yet obtained a PRC / VSS.   Returning Scouters can use BackCheck to complete their PRC renewals.  (More information about BackCheck)

This process applies to all residents of Toronto with a postal code starting with "M".  Any other new volunteers are asked to please check with their regional Police Service for the application process.
 

Completing and Submitting the form: 

1. Download and fill out the CONSENT TO DISCLOSURE FORM (GTC PRC Application) for Toronto Police Service.

   • The PDF form MUST be completed and signed electronically.   Please do not print and fill out by hand.
     
     
2. (Important!) Send your completed form to registration@scouts.ca for verification and electronic signature. 
   
   
3. Print the returned, electronically signed form on legal sized paper. 
   
   
4. Include payment - $20 via personal cheque, certified cheque or money order made payable to Toronto Police Service.  
   
   
5. (Option 1)  Submit the form via mail with cheque attached to:
   
   Information Access Unit (Records Release)
   Toronto Police Service
   40 College Street
   Toronto, Ontario M5G 2J3 
   
   (Option 2)  Hand-deliver the completed form with payment to Toronto Police Headquarters, 40 College Street, to the Information Access Counter in the lobby, from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday, excluding statutory holidays. A dropbox is located between the Info Access Counter and The 808 Gift Shop.
   
   
6. The process may take several weeks.   To check on the status of your application, visit the Toronto Police Service Vulnerable Sector Screening website for instructions.
   
   

When the form has been returned to you from Toronto Police Service: 

1. Take a clear photo of the complete form and email it to registration@scouts.ca with the Subject line "PRC to Process". 
   
   
2. CC your Group Commissioner or Group Support Scouter.   In the text of the email state your full name and Scout Group you are applying to volunteer with.
