How to Give Locally

As the nation's leading youth-serving organization, Scouts Canada gives children and youth ages 5 to 26 the opportunity to be themselves and learn new skills. Your donations to Scouts Canada provide children and youth with exciting experiences and opportunities they wouldn't have elsewhere - and to help the reach their full potential as good citizens and leaders for tomorrow.

Every donation, no matter what size, makes a difference, providing Canadian children and youth with experiences and discoveries they will remember for a lifetime. You may make a one-time gift here or by downloading this form and mailing it to:

A tribute gift is a wonderful way to recognize someone special, to mark a meaningful event or to convey your sympathy. When you make a tribute gift, we will send a letter on your behalf acknowledging your donation; we will not disclose the amount of your gift. You will receive an electronic charitible donation receipt for income tax purposes. You may make a tribute gift here or by downloading this form and mailing it to:

Employer Matching

You can increase the value of your donation with a matching gift from your employer. Many companies across Canada match their employees' charitable donations to eligible non-profit organizations. Some match dollar for dollar.

Ask your employer's human resources department if they offer a matching program.

Legacy Giving

A legacy gift is an excellent way to make an impactful gift that you and your loved ones can be proud of. Your legacy can help provide a place where youth can be themselves, learn new skills and grow into healthy, successful citizens of their communities. Legacy gifts ensure that the things that matter most to you in your lifetime will continue to thrive after you are gone. Legacy giving can have very significant tax benefits for you and your estate. Making a charitable bequest through your will is striaghtforward, but best disclosed with your legal and financial advisors for information specific to your circumstances.

You may direct how we will use a legacy gift. A gift made to:

  • Scouts Canada (Newfoundland and Labrador) Trust Foundation Inc.'s General Fund to support children and youth who need financial assistance to attend camps and jamborees.
  • Scouts Canada (Newfoundland and Labrador) Trust Foundation Inc.'s Bursary Fund to support bursaries we give to children and youth attending national and international camps and jamborees.
  • Scouts Canada (Newfoundland and Labrador) Properties Inc.'s Camp Nor'Wes Fund to support development and program activity at our provincial campsite, near Port Blandford.

You can choose to have your legacy gift added to the capital of these funds or included in their annual disbursement pools. If you would like to see your legacy gift applied to a use other than these three funds, please contact Chris Pike at cpike@scouts.ca to discuss your wishes.

Gift of Securities

If you have publicly traded securities such as stocks, bonds and mutual funds, gifting them to Scouts Canada is a tremendous way to maximize your gift and its impact on Canadian children and youth. When you make a gift of appreciated securities, you pay no tax on capital gains. Your gift of securities entitles you to a charitable donation receipt for the full market value of your contribution. Please consult your financial advisor for information specific to your circumstances.

Insurance Gifts

Some donors choose to buy a life insurance policy and name Scouts Canada as the owner and beneficiary. The premiums you will pay qualify for a charitable tax receipt. You may also choose to donate a policy you already own to us. If you do this, you will receive a charitable tax receipt for the fair market value of the policy. If you choose to name Scouts Canada as the beneficiary of a life insurance policy you already own, your estate will receive a charitable tax receipt when we receive the proceeds.

Depending on your wishes, you may designate:

  • Scouts Canada (Newfoundland and Labrador) Trust Foundation Inc.'s General Fund as the beneficiary to support children and youth who need financial assistance to attend camps and jamborees.
  • Scouts Canada (Newfoundland and Labrador) Trust Foundation Inc.'s Bursary Fund as the beneficiary to support bursaries we give to children and youth attending national and international camps and jamborees.
  • Scouts Canada (Newfoundland and Labrador) Properties Inc.'s Camp Nor'Wes Fund as the beneficiary to support development and program activity at our provincial campsite, near Port Blandford.

If you would like to see your insurance gift applied to a use other than these three funds, please contact Chris Pike at cpike@scouts.ca to discuss your wishes.
