NS Moves to Stage 4!

January 08, 2021

Friends in Scouting,
Over the past week there have been Provincial updates in regards to COVID-19 restrictions and guidelines. There has been some easing of restrictions coming before the original January 10th date that was set to review the restrictions put in place just before the holidays.
As we move through the pandemic, we continue to put time and care into making any decision to move stages. We continue to consult directly with Public Health to ensure, as a Council, we understand the impacts of any restrictions / guidelines imposed or eased by the Province. Safety of our members is our number one priority and our approach from the beginning has been to be thoughtful and proactive rather than reactive to any changes of restrictions / guidelines.
As of 12:01am on January 11th, 2021 we will be moving to a modified Stage 4 of the Scouts Canada COVID-19 standards.
Additional restrictions / guidelines to utilizing indoor venues
  • 25-person cap. Additionally, groups are under the restrictions that an indoor venue imposes. Members must follow any of these additional restrictions which includes any further cap on persons. IE. recreation facility versus a school versus a church.
  • Food or Drink cannot be consumed unless it is at a designated food or drink area where people are seated, physically distanced, and can safety remove their mask. Again, members must adhere to any additional restrictions imposed by the indoor venue in regards to food or drink consumption.
Please remember for indoor venues:
  • Masks must be worn and hand sanitization product available throughout the meeting.
  • High touch areas such as door handles, activity equipment, etc. should be sanitized before and after use.

There are no additional restrictions / guidelines to outdoor standards but please remember:

  • There is a 50-person cap (including youth, scouters and parent helpers)
  • Masks must be worn when physical distancing of 6 feet / 2 meters is not able to be maintained, but masks are encouraged throughout the meeting.
  • Hand Sanitization product is made available and encouraged throughout the meeting.
To help stop the spread of COVID-19 in both indoor venues and outdoor spaces please remember:
  • All participants must be provided a self-assessment / screening checklist to perform screening of their children or themselves before arriving at the planned Scouting activity.
  • Scouters, parents or guardians and youth must not attend the programs or other Scouting activities if they are sick (any sickness - not limited to COVID illness).
Please review the Scouts Canada Stage 4 COVID-19 Standards. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to connect with us or your Relationship Manager.
Thank you for your continued support and inspiring resilience.
