Your Chance to Spark Memories

November 22, 2024

What if kids could chase their wildest ideas?

Giving Tuesday is just around the corner on December 3rd. On this day of generosity, we’re asking our Scouting community and people across Canada to believe in kids and young people by supporting Scouts.

Count Me In

Every kid has their very own spark of curiosity that makes them think “what if?”

We keep youth at the forefront by saying “yes” to their zaniest ideas, where others say “no”. Creating a space for young people to build safe and tangible plans, we help them make it happen—whether it’s an adventure they lead with friends or managing a project that strengthens their community, like food drives and greenspace cleanups.

We know youth are capable of anything. Your donation can help them discover their potential, grow confidence and build resiliency.

Believe in Kids

We help kids connect with the world beyond screens.

SO CAN YOU.

You can’t experience Scouting on an app. Social networks can’t compare to the friendships earned by championing challenges with friends in the great outdoors.

  • The problem

Recent studies* found that nearly a quarter of young people aged 15-24 feel a low sense of meaning and purpose, and the same amount face loneliness on a regular basis.

Less than half of youth ages 5-17 get the right amount of physical activity per day, and the majority of children and teens spend more than two hours a day on screens**.

  • How you can help
Kids and young people are missing out on true connection and staying active. Scouting gets kids and young people out in the real world, connecting them with nature, each other and their community.

REMIND ME TO DONATE ON GIVING TUESDAY

About Giving Tuesday

It’s a simple idea: a movement that encourages people to do good.

On this special day each year, Giving Tuesday asks you to pay it forward. As the world’s largest generosity movement, people in Canada (and the world!) are encouraged to give back to the causes that matter to them most, whether it’s contributions of time, skill or donation.

You can help us raise $10,000CAD between now and December 31st. With your kindness, we will continue to innovate Scouting in the following areas:

Better Camps & More Awesome Adventures

So kids can build a childhood of fun memories.

Strong Safety Culture

So kids can enjoy being kids while we take care of prevention and response, screening volunteers, safety awareness and essential training.

Volunteer Training

So they have the skills and confidence to run exciting activities, successful fundraisers, and give youth a great experience.

Vibrant Programming

To give young people unique experiences that help them discover a world of 'firsts' and explore new skills.

No One Left Behind Subsidy Program

So financial barriers don't keep kids from embarking on the Scouting adventure.

Everyone is welcome at our campfire

It starts with Scouts. Youth and volunteers grow genuine relationships that tie their friendships for life.

From camping in Canada’s backcountry with views that outshine any screensaver, to overcoming fun challenges with friends, to caring for their local community and the planet, Scouts grow to understand who they are and what they’re capable of.

Belonging starts here. Help youth discover their community and the best in themselves.

Ways to Give

Every penny counts. Help us raise $10,000 by the new year!

Statistics Canada (2024, Q2) found that 22% of young people aged 15-24 feel a low sense of meaning and purpose, rating 0-5 on a scale of 10 (0 being the lowest).
22.18% always or often feel lonely.

**ParticipACTION’s 2024 Children & Youth Report Card showed that only 39% of youth ages 5-17 get the right amount of physical activity per day—60 minutes of “moderate- to vigorous-intensity physical activity” daily, according to the 24 Hour Movement Guidelines.
Three-quarters of children and teens (73%) spend more than two hours a day on screens, which is more than the Guidelines’ recommended time (only 27% meet screen time limit).
