Welcome Back to Scouting

Welcome to another year of great Scouting adventures!

Scouts have fun youth-led adventures discovering new things and experiences they wouldn’t discover elsewhere. It’s the perfect place for kids to be kids, immersed in nature while developing leadership and critical thinking skills.  Along the way, they develop into capable, confident individuals, better prepared for success in the world.

Discover what this year has in store for you!

Scouts builds leaders and enables youth to lead their own path toward creating a better world. Through Youth-led programming, Scouts help youth to discover the best in themselves, taking on new challenges and experiencing new things they wouldn’t elsewhere. And Scouts allows youth to make meaningful contributions to creating a better world as an active member of the community. From food and clothing drives to park cleanups and maintenance, Scouts encourages kids to give back as youth and adults.

From all of us at Scouts Canada, we wish you all the best as you embark on a year full of adventure & fun.

Beaver Scouts (Age 5-7)

As Beavers, youth discover the world by exploring the pond through adventures like camping, hiking, playing games and having campfires. Along the way, great new friendships are forged.

“My Colony went camping! We got to sleep in a cabin with all our friends, we went on hikes and ate hot dogs, but my favourite part of camp was the obstacle course!”

Scouts (Age 11-14)

Scouts blaze their own trails with the Canadian Trails map as they plan their adventures which can include, mountain biking, camping, rock climbing and working together to give back to their communities.

“The most important skills I have learned through Scouts are the skills that have helped shape me as an individual. Scouts has taught me how to be a confident and patient person, how to talk to strangers and speak at public events. It challenged me to push myself to my limits. It gave me the courage to travel 1,400 km away from home to go to CJ’17 at the age of 10, and to fundraise all the money I needed for the journey. It also challenged me to hike 28 km in the Rideau Challenge as a first year Scout.”

Venturer Scouts (Age 15-17)

Venturer Scouts are encouraged to explore their potential as they undertake new and challenging activities with the support of others in the company.

“Scouting has made me a leader who won’t back down, and my confidence is impossible to drown. I have been in front of hundreds of people and it doesn’t make me nervous. Scouting has shown me that we shouldn’t be discouraged by our mistakes, but appreciate them. Without them, how would we learn to do it a little differently, and how would we become the citizens that this organization has made us? Confident and capable individuals better prepared for success in the world.”

Rover Scouts (Age 18-26)

With the symbolic framework of “Paddle Your Own Canoe”, Rovers embark on a journey that allows them to set their own personal goals and work to accomplish them. Along the way, they develop into confident, capable individuals.

“After reflecting on my last twelve years in Scouting, I have realized that the program has had a huge impact on my life, and on who I am today. Without this program I would have grown up a completely different person. Scouting has allowed me to gain independence and understand the importance of responsibility.”

Thank you for your dedication to Scouting. Your hard work is truly making a difference in the lives of youth across the country. Whether you are a Colony or Company Scouter, we have the tools you need to create an exciting program that encourages Youth-led adventures, allowing Scouts to reach their full potential.

So how do you deliver a great program on The Canadian Path? By incorporating the Four Elements — Youth-led, Plan-Do-Review, Adventure and SPICES — you are contributing to our collective mission of developing well-rounded youth better prepared for success in the world.

“I thank Scouters for my experience. I owe them so much for helping me to grow as a person. Scouting makes you aware of others. Teaching about the environment and community, Scouting stops you from focusing on yourself as much, and you become more thankful and willing to give back and help. It’s good for kids to learn that—I know it was good for me.”
