Plan

  • What materials will you need for this activity?
  • What do you want to learn about the SDGs before you start playing?
  • How will you play this game – will you use photos and create your own captions for them, or will you use prompts to start a discussion or inspire a drawing?

Do

Version 1:

  • In a small gathering, have one person select a photo or meme from the pile.
  • Each person writes their own caption or title for the selected photo. This might be a funny, inspirational, serious, or silly
  • Fold your paper and put it in a pile in the middle.
  • The person who picked the photo or meme must then read the captions aloud and decide who wrote which caption.
  • A point is rewarded to how many guesses were correct!
  • Continue by having the next person around the circle choose the photo or meme.

Version 2:

  • Using the prompts provided (or your own), select a prompt at random and read it aloud.
  • Each person should draw a picture or write an answer to the prompt.
  • Share your picture or answer with the rest of the group – you can either have a short discussion based on the prompt and the answers that people shared, or you can try another prompt.

Review

  • What do you know now that you did not know before?
  • What did you learn about the Sustainable Development Goals?
  • What else would you like to learn about the SDGs?

Materials

  • Photos or memes– these can be of anything. People, places, things, etc. from your community or around the world
  • Prompts for the Goals
  • Pen/pencil or other drawing supplies (if you’re going to draw to match a prompt, rather than write a prompt for a photo).
  • Paper

Keep it Simple

  • Start with simple prompts and have everyone draw out their ideas. If people are comfortable, have them share what they drew with the Group.

Take it Further

  • Play Pictionary! Create a drawing of a project or concept related to a Goal – then, have the rest of the group guess what Goal your drawing relates to!
