What do you find most rewarding as a Scouter?
Watching the youth, parents and Scouters, develop a passion for the program. It is really unique in how many things you get to try by being part of just one program.
At Scouts Canada, our mission is to develop well-rounded youth better prepared for success in the world. During your time as a Scouter, how have you impacted the mission?
The 7th Woodstock try to provide youth with opportunities try something they haven’t done before, something they don’t think they can do, or to try activities they can’t do regularly with their parents like sailing, canoeing, or camping. All of this builds self-confidence in their own abilities and encourages them to try new things.
If you could offer once piece of advice to a new Scouter what would it be?
Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Parents want to help with the program but may not come forward, and aren’t sure if they are wanted or needed. Ask them, encourage them, and give them an opportunity to be part of their child’s Scouting adventure. They both will benefit from a shared experience.
