Gear Review – Eureka Solitaire 1 Person Tent

If you are looking for a lightweight, durable tent for your next outdoor adventure, then look no further than the Eureka Solitaire—this could be the tent for you!

The Eureka Solitaire 1 Person Tent is compact and only weighs 2.6 lbs, making it the perfect packing companion. It is a bivy-style tent that sets up easily with only 2 aluminum poles. It is important to note that this is not a free-standing tent—meaning it needs to be pegged down in order to maintain its shape.

On the top of the tent is a retractable fly that exposes a large zippered mesh opening which can be used for quick step-in entry; when the weather is nice, it allows you to sleep under the stars protected from biting insects. There is also a front door entrance which has mesh screen protection but also allows air flow through the tent. Inside you will find 2 storage pockets, a flashlight loop and a small vestibule area by your feet.

The fly and tent base are made of a strong UV resistant 75D armatech polyester. This durable construction works well to keep out the elements like rain. The whole tent conveniently packs up into a 15cm x 50cm storage bag which can be easily be stored inside your backpack or clipped on the outside.

I personally love this this tent and enjoy having my own personal space when I’m camping with my family or Troop. Although this tent is not large enough for my air mattress, but I am able to fit my sleeping pad and bag inside with plenty of room to move around. This tent has kept me nice and warm on cool evenings, ensuring I’ve had a good night’s sleep so that I’m energized for more adventuring in the morning.

If you are looking for a compact solo tent, then I highly recommend the Eureka Solitaire 1 Person Tent—you won’t disappointed!  Not only is this essential gear Canadian-made, but it is also available at the Scout Shop where all proceeds go back into Scouting. The knowledgeable staff are also great at helping you meet your camping needs to guide your next adventure.
