Learning to save lives with the 1st Lennoxville Beavers

For anyone familiar with the Scout motto ‘Be prepared’, our latest theme wouldn’t come as a surprise.

Last week was our First Aid week.

Our Beavers learned how to deal with cuts, bruises, burns, scrapes, and life-threatening emergencies. To facilitate the learning, we asked our Beavers to bring large teddy-bears and stuffed toys on which they could practice basic CPR skills.

After learning how to place our hands for proper chest compressions, our Beavers -eager to put the newly acquired knowledge into practice- proceeded to perform CPR on many a teddy.

We also prepared First Aid kits with bandages, gauze pads, and other First Aid articles, and we noticed that our neckerchiefs could be used as bandages, if need be.

The evening was fun and informative.

Learning First Aid fundamentals will help us to stay calm should the occasion arise. And we will be prepared.

Yours in Scouting
