Letters to Vets and Soldiers

Each year our Beaver Colony sends letters to Veterans and Soldiers. Canadian Armed Forces members serving overseas appreciate receiving correspondence from Canadians as well as groups, schools and organizations from across Canada. You can send letters addressed to ‘Any Canadian Armed Forces Member’.

Our Beavers last year drew pictures and sent letters for Remembrance Day. And we got a lovely letter back from Lieutenant-Colonel Commander Kristopher Reeves!

You can get your group to send letters; you can even send them emails! It is a great way to reinforce the importance of their sacrifice throughout the year.

You can bring Veterans joy and thank them for their service! You can send veterans Valentine’s Day cards. Every year, Canadians make valentines for Veterans in long term care facilities across Canada. Last year, Veterans Affairs Canada sent approximately 17,000 valentines to more than 6,000 Veterans in 1,453 LTC facilities.

You can also host a Memory Project volunteer at your meeting. You can book online a guest speaker. Just remember to book early! They also have a lot of resource materials. We have hosted guest speakers for the past several years through the Memory Project.
