Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Wayfinders is an innovative department within Scouts Canada that focuses on creating short-term, staff-driven programs designed to engage youth in leadership, environmental stewardship, cultural competency, and creative expression. These programs provide a fresh alternative to traditional, year-long Scouting, offering participants immersive, hands-on learning experiences that are both fun and transformative.

While traditional Scouting programs often follow a year-long structure with youth-led activities, Wayfinders offers shorter, episodic programs that are led by experienced staff. These programs are focused on intensive skill development in specific areas, such as leadership or environmental exploration, and are designed to engage participants in a more concentrated, project-based format.

Wayfinders programs are open to all youth across Canada, regardless of their previous involvement with Scouts Canada. We welcome participants from a wide range of backgrounds, and we strive to make our programs as inclusive and accessible as possible. Whether you’ve been involved in Scouting before or are completely new to it, Wayfinders is a great way to explore new interests, meet new people, and develop valuable skills.
