Communications Functional Team

As a collaborative team of volunteers and staff, we help create branded resources and messaging support for Groups, Councils and other Functional Teams to drive standardized, integrated & consistent communications across Canada.

  • Produces visual designs and layouts for printed and online materials and assets, within Scouts Canada’s Brand Guidelines. 
  • Applicants will typically work in a graphic or visual arts environment and be familiar with design concepts and relevant software.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement Scouts Canada design brand guidelines and standards, supporting brand integrity
  • Source user-generated photography/videography assets
  • Generate graphics and visual content targeting specific platforms and campaigns
  • Expand Scouts Canada’s graphic assets including expanding content in the Brand Centre
  • Work with standard software (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.)
  • Participate in client review/approval process

 

  • The Youth Graphic Designer is a mentorship position of interest to a Scouting youth interested in pursuing a graphic design or media arts career. 
  • The individual is expected to participate in team meetings, review and provide critical feedback on work in progress. 
  • Some learning is required to become familiar with Scouts Canada’s graphics, photography, videography and brand standards. 
  • The individual will typically be partnered with a graphic designer throughout a short duration project assignment (normally lasting 2 to 4 weeks). 

This is a volunteer position and priority is to be given to school and other commitments.

 

  • The Youth Web Developer is a mentorship position of interest to a Scouting youth interested in pursuing a web development or web content creation career. 
  • The individual is expected to participate in team meetings, review and provide critical feedback on work in progress. 
  • Some learning is required to become familiar with Scouts Canada’s web development and brand standards. 
  • Fundamental knowledge of HTML is advantageous. 
  • Knowledge of publishing concepts and content management systems such as MODX will be provided. 
  • The individual will typically be partnered with a web developer throughout a short duration project assignment (normally lasting 2 to 4 weeks). 

This is a volunteer position and priority is to be given to school and other commitments.
