If you are interested, you are invited to submit your application for the volunteer position of Council Youth Commissioner — New Brunswick.

The Council Youth Commissioner works as an equal with a volunteer Council Commissioner and a paid Council Relationship Manager, as part of the Council Key 3, to manage all aspects of the Council. Working closely with a team of volunteers, and the Council Leadership Team, the Council Youth Commissioner is responsible for supporting and growing the Scouting movement in New Brunswick, as well as being a vital member of the National Service Team and setting the direction for Scouting in Canada.

As the CYC, youth will have the opportunity to take on new challenges and initiatives at both the Council and National levels. They will have the chance to meet new people in and out of Scouts, and most importantly, they can be the voice that helps to grow and promote Scouting.

The job has a variety of tasks and is dynamic and changing. The ability to understand, quickly react and motivate others to adapt to the changing organizational environment is a critical key to success.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Demonstrated leadership, problem solving, and decision making skills;
  • Proven ability to inspire confidence, team effort and leadership in others
  • Effective interpersonal and excellent communication skills;
  • Willingness to learn new skills and participate in new challenges;
  • Registered or ability to become an active member of Scouts Canada.

Applicants must submit:

  • CV detailing your current Scouting role and Group (if applicable), Scouting background (and other community involvement), awards and recognition and leadership roles in and out of Scouting
  • Cover letter that identifies the Council that you are applying for and details why you are interested in the position, your vision for Scouting and what you can contribute to the role
  • Name, telephone number and email address

Submit the required documents to: by March  31, 2021.

The appointment is for a one year term, renewable for a maximum of three years. This position is being advertised internally within Scouting and externally.
