All of the volunteers and staff of the Pacific Coast Council are devastated by the recent revelation shared by the Cowessess Indigenous group in Saskatchewan of 751 unmarked graves at a site nearby the former Marieval Indian Residential School. Our thoughts are with everyone including but not limited to the families and communities whom have suffered and continue to suffer as a consequence of the residential school system, and who have now become traumatized again by the pain of these tragic revelations. This truth has demonstrated the reality and horror of the Residential School System in Canada and all that it represents. A truth among many that must be recognized and acknowledged before moving forward along the path to reconciliation. The Pacific Coast Council honours their lives and the survivors. We shall never forget their stories.
