Local youth earn prestiges award

This fall the Cochrane Scouting Group had the honour of handing out the Chief Scout Award to three of it’s youth members. This has been the first time the award has been handed out in 20 years. 

The Chief Scout Award is the top section award for the Scout section (youth ages 11-14). Since Scouts Canada re-branded its youth programming about five years ago they added a top section award for each section of scouting Beaver Scouts, ages 5-7 have the North Star Award, Cub Scouts, ages 8-10 have the Seeonee Award, Scouts, ages 11-14 have the Chief Scout Award, Venturer Scouts, ages 15-17 have the Queen Venturer Award and Rovers ages 18-26 have the Canadian Rover Scout Award. Prior to the re-branding just the Scout and Venturer sections had top section awards.
