Four British Columbians are receiving special recognition from the Vancouver Canucks for their work in the community during the novel coronavirus pandemic.
Earlier this month, the Canucks sought nominations from the public to recognize people who were doing special work in the community, with the awards modelled after their end-of-season player awards.
On Friday the NHL team announced the winners of the Fan Hero Awards: elementary school student Quinn Callander is the MVP (outstanding individual making a difference), cafe owner Lorena Green is the most exciting player (recognizing a local small business or community group), Shanaz Ali is the best defenceman (health care worker or first responder) and Jared Bogdanovich is the unsung hero (essential services worker).
