Scouts Canada Supports the Scouts of Ukraine

March 11, 2022

As a movement and lifestyle, Scouting empowers youth with core values and skills that nurture their personal development, inspiring them to make meaningful contributions to their communities, the environment and the world at large.

The needs of our time are vast and span the globe. As an organization built on local ties across the country, Scouts Canada is woven into the fabric of Canadian communities and joins a larger quilt of National Scout Organizations to form the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM). We are uniquely positioned to instill goodwill, appreciation and acts of kindness; when we live our values and work together to make a positive difference, we can widen our impact.

Ukrainians are receiving in an influx of solidarity and support from Scouts around the world and in neighbouring countries as the ongoing humanitarian crisis unfolds in the country. Through acts of solidarity and generous donations to the ongoing fundraising appeal, the Scout Movement has united in a show of strength and compassion for those being impacted by the conflict in Ukraine.

In only a few days, WOSM exceeded their $100,000 fundraising goal for the Scouts of Ukraine, so that they may provide food, medicine, sleeping equipment, necessary supplies and psychological support to people and communities impacted by the conflict.

Now, WOSM has raised the funding target to $250,000 to generate even more support and direct additional funds toward neighbouring National Scout Organizations providing essential services and assistance to those displaced by the conflict in Ukraine.

Scouting has a long and proud history of promoting peace, dialogue and human rights, including the rights of children all around the world, particularly in areas where conflict arises.

Your generous support and solidarity is needed by the National Organization of Scouts of Ukraine to coordinate emergency humanitarian relief efforts in Ukraine and the surrounding region.
