We are very excited to announce that Haliburton Scout Reserve (HSR) will be open for camping and programming for youth starting July 8, 2023. Reservations can be booked NOW at a slightly reduced fee.
The Property Operations Team is committed to ensuring that HSR supports quality outdoor programming in a safe and idyllic environment for many years to come. HSR provides youth with great outdoor adventures with many unique experiences to offer.
What will be offered
With the amount of work needed to get the camp open, we cannot offer ALL the programs which were offered in 2019. We are focusing on your favourites and plan to have water-based activity, archery, trapper’s cabin, low ropes, hiking, and star hikes available.
Since we are not confident that all programs will be available, rates will be slightly lower than 2019. As in prior years, we will start with a $500 deposit, and the final bill will be settled at the end of the visit. Groups and youth can start using the site as of July 8th, 2023.
Help Wanted
We anticipate opening the site in late April to STAFF and ADULT VOLUNTEERS ONLY to do the work necessary to get the site up and running. We would appreciate your help in getting HSR ready for youth. Please sign up by Monday, March 6th using the button below and we will be in touch with more details.
The Alumni Association plans to be very active in the spring, performing much needed maintenance and assisting with the installation of new docks. We also hope to have several work weekends, where other friends of HSR can participate and help get ready for re-opening.
We would also like to announce that we have hired a new Camp Director, Christopher Bulman. He will be coordinating much of the work and can be reached at haliburtonreserve@scouts.ca.
Call to Action
You can contribute to our success by spreading the word that we are open in 2023. The more people visit the site, the more we can do to offer great adventure and experiences for youth.
We are looking forward to seeing you at HSR this summer!
