As our Seeonee Award Community Service Project, we started a campaign for educating others to not feed wildlife. We did a brief presentation to the Pack and Colony of our Scouts group, explaining reasons for how feeding wildlife can cause damage to the animals and the environment. Beavers and Cubs filled in posters with information and helped put them up in the public, including parks, ecology centres, and schools. Some scouts also did short presentations to their school classes and their communities. In addition, we also collected household items donations for the BCSPCA WildARC (Wild Animals Rehabilitation Centre, Victoria, BC) and Wildlife Rescue Association of BC (Burnaby, BC) to help in their effort of rescuing injured wild animals. We hope to promote the idea by spreading the word to as many youth as possible, so that we can live peacefully with wildlife and share the environment.
