Scouts Canada members aged 14–24 can enroll for free!
The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award is a challenge program of activities for youth between the ages of 14 and 24. Young people participate in the program worldwide, and the Award is an accomplishment that is widely recognized and highly regarded — it can be an outstanding addition to your resume or to a postsecondary application!
While not exclusive to Scouting, The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award program has much in common with The Canadian Path, emphasizing outdoor adventure and community service, and supporting your personal development. Fulfilling your goals on The Canadian Path — like achieving your Top Section Award — could help you to earn The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award, which you can wear proudly on your Scouting uniform.
Scouts Canada signed a Memorandum of Understanding with The Duke of Edinburgh International Awards in 2010. This formalized the cooperative relationship that has existed on an international level between the two organizations for many years.
All members of Scouting between the ages of 14 and 24 are eligible to register for The Duke of Edinburgh International Award for free! When youth register for The Duke of Edinburgh International Award, they will be enrolled for a specific level within the program: Bronze, Silver or Gold. As long as a youth is a registered member of Scouts Canada, they can take as long as they need to complete that level. Once the Award has been approved and the youth participant decides to continue to the next level, they may register again to continue the program.
A Scouter, working closely with the Section Leadership Team, may assess, approve and present the Bronze Award once he or she has completed training from the Scouts Canada Division.
