Communications Functional Team — External Communications
Working closely with the External Communications stream and Communications Functional Team, the External Communications Writer is a self-motivated individual who supports the development of engaging content for external communications properties, including public relations, partner or sponsor materials.
The External Communications Writer also has the exciting opportunity to mentor a participant of Scouts Canada’s Youth Spokesperson Program (YSP). YSPs have the option to develop their professional skills under the guidance of the External Communications Writer, while also contributing their time and skills to support the External Communications Writer’s responsibilities.
Communications Functional Team — External Communications
Working closely with the External Communications stream and Communications Functional Team, the Social Media Advisor – Coach is a self-motivator who leads social media best practices implementation, blending the Social Media Advisor role with a coaching component.
This role requires knowledge of Scouts Canada’s organizational values and programming, and involves working closely with our membership through organized social media webinars to empower volunteers to manage their own Scouts Canada Sections, Group, Council or camp pages.
The Social Media Advisor – Coach also has the exciting opportunity to mentor a participant of Scouts Canada’s Youth Spokesperson Program (YSP). YSPs have the option to develop their professional skills under the guidance of the Social Media Advisor – Coach, while also contributing their time and skills to support the Social Media Advisor – Coach’s responsibilities.
Communications Functional Team — External Communications
Working closely with the External Communications stream and Communications Functional Team, the Social Media Advisors—of which there are two—contributes to maintaining Scouts Canada’s vibrant social media presence and engagement across all channels.
Social Media Advisors also have the exciting opportunity to mentor a participant of Scouts Canada’s Youth Spokesperson Program (YSP). YSPs have the option to develop their professional skills under the guidance of Social Media Advisors, while also contributing their time and skills to support Social Media Advisors’ responsibilities.
Communications Functional Team — Internal Communications
Working closely with the Internal Communications stream and Communications Functional Team, the Storytellers—of which there will be three—are self-motivated writers responsible for sourcing local Scouting stories and creating engaging feature content.
This role requires frequent collaboration with staff and volunteers, as well as strong networking skills with local Scouting communities to remain informed of upcoming storytelling opportunities.
Storytellers also have the exciting opportunity to mentor a participant of Scouts Canada’s Youth Spokesperson Program (YSP). YSPs have the option to develop their professional skills under the guidance of Storytellers, while also contributing their time and skills to support Storytellers’ responsibilities.
Communications Functional Team — Internal Communications
Working closely with the Internal Communications stream and Communications Functional Team, the Social Media Moderators facilitate healthy and constructive conversations on Scouts Canada’s Facebook discussion group pages, while also managing member inquiries and feedback.
This role requires knowledge of Scouts Canada’s organizational values and programming, and often involves responding to questions commonly addressed on our Online Support Centre, and managing membership feedback, concerns or inquiries on discussion group timelines.

In order to help achieve our mission of developing well-rounded youth, better prepared for success in the world, Scouts Canada is committed to ensuring our programs and activities are accessible to everyone who wants to join the Scouting movement.
